- 四依
- The four necessaries, or things on which the religious rely.(1) [lang id =1028]行四依 The four of ascetic practitioners-- rag clothing; begging for food; sitting under trees; purgatives and diuretics as moral and spiritual means; these are also termed [lang id =1028]四聖種.(2) [lang id =1028]法四依 The four of the dharma: i. e. the truth, which is eternal, rather than man, even its propagator; the sutras of perfect meaning i. e. of the [lang id =1028]道實相 the truth of the 'middle' way; the meaning, or spirit, not the letter; wisdom [lang id =1028]智, i.e. Buddha-wisdom rather than mere knowledge [lang id =1028]識. There are other groups. Cf. [lang id =1028]四事.* * *1.指行四依, 即冀掃衣、 常乞食、 樹下坐、 腐爛藥。 此四種法, 是入道之緣, 是上根利器之所依止, 故名行四依。 2.指法四依, 即依法不依人、 依了義經不依不了義經、 依義不依語、 依智不依識。
